5th Grade Teacher
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to follow the four class rules:
- Be Kind
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Safe
ACCELERATED READER
5th grade students are expected to get 10 AR points per quarter with an 85% accuracy or higher.
HOMEWORK / LATE WORK POLICY
- The amount of homework will be dependent upon how effectively class work time is used. There will be plenty of work time available to the students throughout the day to work on their assignments, however, any unfinished work will need to be brought home, completed, and turned in. Work that is assigned is expected to be turned in the following day.
- If work is not turned in the following day students will have until the next Monday to turn in their work. If it is not turned in at this point, it will be entered in the grade book as a zero. For example, work assigned between September 2nd through September 5th must be turned in by Monday, September 8th.
Students are encouraged to work on the following assignments outside of school hours:
- Read their AR books for 20 minutes each day
- Practice math skills on IXL (if you have internet access)
- Study the weekly spelling words each night
- Study for any upcoming tests
EXTRA CREDIT
There will be multiple opportunities to earn extra credit throughout the school year. Students will be informed of these opportunities when they arise.
TECHNOLOGY RULES
- Ask a teacher for permission to use the devices.
- Only use apps and websites that are appropriate for the task.
- Keep information private, like logins and passwords.
- Think about people's feelings when sending messages or emails.
- Treat technology with care.
ALLERGIES
I have a peanut allergy, so no peanut products are allowed in my classroom. If your child eats something with peanuts, they will be asked to wash their hands. By following these precautions, it ensures my safety and my ability to teach your child. Thank you for your understanding.
PLANNERS
Please check your child's planner each night. This is the best way to know if they have homework.
Google Classroom (How to login)
Have your child sign in with their school email.
The email address is their first and last name.
The email password is their first name and the year they will graduate from high school.
